ORLANDO - "Every skilled nursing care center embodies a unique and vibrant spirit and community for residents, volunteers and staff alike. Acts of kindness, generosity and compassion from proud veterans, immigrants, and hardworking people of different faiths fill the walls of each center.
During National Nursing Home Week® (NNHW), May 14 to 20, 2017, skilled nursing care centers unite under the theme, “The Spirit of America.” This theme underscores the bond between staff, volunteers and residents that capture the American spirit." -American Health Care Association
Guardian Care started the week's celebration off with breakfast and family portraits with Mom’s on Mother’s Day. The rest of the week was jammed pack with events including a talent show. Mr. Magic, a resident of Guardian Care, amazed all with his numerous tricks. He even pulled a rabbit out of his hat. There was singing, dancing and fashion. Commissioners Regina Hill, Victoria Siplin, along with Congresswoman Val Demings' representative came to be a part of the Veterans appreciation lunch. The residents and staff proudly represented their community. One resident raised his hand to remind us the "Air Force flies over us all". The facility is filled with talented individuals. Victoria Siplin, Vice-Mayor/Commissioner District 6 presented an, "Affirmation of Support" to Guardian Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their dedication to the health and well-being of the citizens of Greater Orlando. Guardian Care Administrator, Eloise Abrahams, presented all veterans who were present with a Certificate of Appreciation" for their service to this great country. The presentation was followed by a tree planting ceremony in honor of the residents, veterans, stakeholders, volunteers and employees of the facility.
Every time I visit, I am reminded that Guardian Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is one of Orlando’s greatest treasures.
