New Attractions Opening In Orlando’s 3 Biggest Theme Parks

These terms have become staples when referring to theme parks. With Orlando being one of the top tourist destinations in the world, it is no surprise that a majority of that success is based off the amusements parks located here. With such a reputation Orlando theme park executives have announced new attractions in order to keep residents and visitors excited to visit the parks. Here are some of the biggest attractions opening this year.
Universal Orlando Resort
Universal Orlando Resort has two openings this year. The first is called, "Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon.” The ride puts guests in the role of the audience of the Tonight Show which is hosted by Jimmy Fallon. Guests join Fallon in an exhilarating race through New York City. It is set to open April 6, 2017.
“‘Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon’ will be the first attraction at Universal Studios Florida to feature an all-new Virtual Line experience,” said the Public Relations Department of Universal Studios. “Allowing guests to spend less time waiting in line and more time discovering even more incredible thrills throughout Universal Studios.”
The second opening is not set to open until May 25, 2017 due to its size and innovation; it’s a whole new park! Volcano Bay at Universal’s Orlando Resort is Universal’s new water park! Universal’s spokesmen are sure that this park with solidify itself amongst other great water parks by having thrilling rides and the most up to date technology.
“When guests arrive to Volcano Bay, they’ll receive a waterproof TapuTapu wearable (wrist band) to use for the day. Designed specifically and exclusively for use in Universal’s water theme park,” said Universal Public Relations in a statement. “It will allow guests to virtually wait in line for Volcano Bay’s dozens of unique attractions and discover various TapTu Play experiences throughout the park with just a simple tap.”
Seaworld’s opening brings virtual reality to Florida. Seaworld’s famous roller coaster called, “Kraken,” is going to be turned into a virtual reality roller coaster. The ride will take guests on an underwater virtual adventure alongside mythical sea creatures, including the Kraken. The ride is the first and only virtual reality coaster in Florida. The innovative ride is set to open during the summer of 2017.
“I am really excited for the virtual reality coaster,” said Julia Augustin, a local student. “I think it will have a big impact on technology.”
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Disney is set to open Pandora: The World of Avatar in its park Animal Kingdom. This new “world” is the biggest expansion in Animal Kingdom’s history. The expansion will include floating rocks, bioluminescent plant life, and invigorating new rides. The environment will bring the world of Pandora to life and will copy the planet’s features just as they were presented in the 2009 movie, Avatar. The expansion will also feature life-like animatronics of the Avatar themselves.
“Pandora, The World of Avatar is an epic new land opening May 27 at Disney's Animal Kingdom. It will transport guests into an otherworldly setting of unbelievable sights and experiences,” said a Disney Spokesperson. “Aboard the Na'vi River Journey guests will sail down a mysterious river hidden within a bioluminescent forest. Guests can also soar on a Banshee over a mystical world on Avatar Flight of Passage.”
