     ­The Sponsors of Education are committed to providing educational opportunities to area school children.Thirty-eight local entrepreneurs have teamed up with the staff of The Orlando Times to distribute the African-American, award winning, weekly newspaper to Central Florida Schools. These generous philanthropists are currently financing newspapers for the sixty schools participating in the project  called Sponsors of Education (S.O.E.).  With this innovative project in place, students will not only keep abreast of local, state, and national news from the Black perspective; but they will also have a positive voice in the newspaper.
     Obviously believing that “It takes a whole village to raise a child,” these champions of children zeroed in on reading, a vital component of education.  And they are supporting this worthwhile venture morally, financially, helping to make our youth readers and leaders.
     The Orlando Times is now being distributed to sixty schools in Osceola, Orange, Lake and Seminole Counties:   In Osceola County, the schools are Gateway High and Denn John Middle. In Orange County, the schools are Lake Nona High, Phyllis Wheatley Elementary, Ecceleston Elementary, Hungerford Elementary, Memorial Middle, Orange Center Elementary, Pineloch Elementary, Rocklake Elementary, Washington Shores Elementary, Ivy Lane Elementary,  Richmond Heights Elementary, Carver Middle School, Robert Hungerford Prep HS, Grand Avenue Elementary, Hiawassee Elementary, Howard Middle, Maxie Elementary, Pine Hills Elementary, Robinswood Middle and Tildenville Elementary. Seminole County schools include Crooms AOIT, Midway Elementary, Millennium Middle, Hamilton Elementary, Hopper Center, Pine Crest Elementary, Sanford Middle, Mt. Dora High, Mt. Dora Middle, Tavares High, Eustis High, Lyman High, Milwee Middle, and Lake Mary High.
