Seminole State College of Florida’s Tuesday Voices, an open-mic poetry reading series, continues its season on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. in the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus Multipurpose Room (building C). This event is free and open to the public, and everyone in attendance is invited to read an original poem or a favorite poem by another author. Refreshments will be served. The City of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department is offering G.E.D. and Basic Education classes at Chambers Park Community Center. Earning a G.E.D. can create opportunities for a brighter future. The classes are taught by a Florida certified teacher, who is available to help guide and tutor students who are at least 18-years-old and preparing to take the G.E.D. or simply want to improve basic educational skills. The classes are on-going and held each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. The Chambers Park Community Center is located at 2380 N. Smith Street in Kissimmee. The Kissimmee Civic Center is now offering Zumba and 3-2-1 Circuit Training classes on Mondays and Thursdays with two group exercise sessions per week, starting at 5:45 p.m. On Monday evenings rev-up your metabolism with 3-2-1 Circuit Training. The fast-paced circuit style session, which is designed to improve muscular and cardiovascular fitness, will keep you moving. Motivating music and new exercises and routines keep the class upbeat and interesting. Thursday nights will get your heart pumping with the Latin dance style of Zumba. The energy-filled atmosphere created by the music, dancing and energetic instructor will help you to burn calories and improve your fitness without even realizing it. All skill levels and ages are invited to join the party! Group exercise classes are included with regular membership or daily guest fees. VITAS Innovative Hospice Care® of Central Florida needs volunteers in your area who can befriend terminally ill patients, provide relief for weary caregivers, accompany their pet on Paw Pals© visits, visit with veterans, provide art and music therapy, make bereavement calls, sew, make crafts, help repair medical equipment, or help with administrative work.
