2008 Upcoming Calendar Events


* On Tuesday, December 16, 2008, the Bridgebuilders of Winter Park, Inc. will have its fourth annual Brotherhood Award Dinner at the Rachel Murrah Civic Center which is located on Morse Boulevard, at 6:30pm. The recipient of the Brotherhood Award is one who has worked unselfishly to improve relationships among all of the citizens of Winter Park and to help make it more of an inclusive city for all of its citizens. At this meeting, there will be time to greet the elected officials and staff. We will learn what their roles are and the names of the city's boards. Persons who are interested in serving on a board can get a form to fill out which is a requirement to be considered for an appointment. * VALENCIA TO SHOWCASE STUDENT CHOREOGRAPHY. Valencia Community College will hold its 10th annual Choreographers' Showcase on Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22 at 8pm, in the Performing Arts Center on Valencia's East Campus, located at 701 North Econlockhatchee Trail in Orlando. Providing a creative outlet for Valencia dance students to showcase their choreography, performances will include a variety of dance genres. Ticket prices are $8 for the general public and $6 for senior citizens and Valencia students, faculty and staff. * Pastor Johnny McKinnie and the St. Luke Baptist Church, Kissimmee, Florida, invites the community to fellowship with them on a "Starry Night of Chtistmas Joy", Saturday evening, December 13, 2008, 6:30pm. This festive Holiday dinner will be held at the fabulous Kissimmee Steak House located at 2047 East Irlo Bronson  Highway (192 East) in Kissimmee, FL. The adult donation is $25. The donation for children 12 and under is $10.

* SCC to host annual Messiah Sing-Along. Seminole Community College, in conjunction with the Seminole Messiah Choral Society, will host its ninth annual Messiah Sing-Along, directed by Dr. Burt H. Perinchief, on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 4pm, in the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus Fine Arts concert Hall (building G). All community members are invited to join in this non-concert format performance of Handel’s Messiah, Coopersmith Edition. The event is free and open to the public. VITAS Innovative Hospice Care of Central Florida needs volunteers in your area who can befriend terminally ill patients, provide relief for weary caregivers, accompany their pet on Paw Pals visits, visit with veterans, provide art and music therapy, make bereavement calls, sew, make crafts, help repair medical equipment, or help with administrative work.
