Filling the Gap Film - Civil War 150 Event at Seminole County Public Library. Please join us for a free Screening and Discussion of the NAACP Image Award Nominee film, Filling the Gap. A docudrama which depicts the courageous military and noncombat service of African-Americans in the Civil War. FEBRUARY

February 1st 2014 – SUNSHINE JAZZ FESTIVAL at Ocoee High School 1925 Ocoee Crown Point Parkway – Ocoee, FL 34761. During the Day: The festival has a clinic session. This component provides increased visibility and career opportunities for middle and high school students who may be interested in pursuing music in their educational endeavors. During this session, (10-12) local middle and high school jazz bands will perform for a panel of five professional jazz adjudicators. During the Evening: The Sunshine Jazz Festival offers an evening performance featuring Yamaha Artist James Snyder and The University of North Florida Jazz Band. Also performing are Ocoee High School Jazz Band, Blu-Tet, and others. Time: 7:00PM Advance Cost: $7 for Students / $12 for Adults Day of Cost: $15 for Students / $20 for Adults NOTE: Proceeds of Every Ticket Sold is donated to the Ocoee High School Band Program

A Story of Love by Catherine Giordano—a Central Florida speaker, writer, blogger, and poet—will give a presentation at the Maitland Public Library on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at 3:00 pm titled “A Story of Love”. The event is free.  Free refreshments will be provided. The presentation begins with a dramatic retelling of a Native American folk tale.  The storytelling is followed by a discussion about what the story can teach us about relationships with our loved ones.  The presentation is suitable for all ages.
