Songs Of Love And Loss By Bess Jones

This slim volume of poems and prose was written in quiet times, in reflections of joyful celebration and mournful desolation. “Songs of Love and Loss” are all songs of life. Proceeds from the sale of this book will benefit scholarships at Talladega College and Morehouse School of Medicine. Bessie Chapman Jones grew up in the deep south in a blue collar family under the brutal yoke of segregation and racism. But she was one of the lucky ones, being the first in her family to attend college. She graduated from Talladega College, then Indiana University. After raising her family of four, at age 44, she entered Morehouse School of Medicine, graduating from Emory University School of Medicine. She practiced in neighborhood health centers for twenty years. After retiring, she and her husband both volunteered at home and abroad and also traveled extensively. They live in Powder Springs, Georgia. The book is available for sale on Amazon for $9.98 with the total proceeds to go for scholarships. Published with Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP).
