WWE pro-wrestler Robert Strauss (Robert Stone) and Tara Sue Gally (Strauss), a fitness professional with over 20 years of experience, are opening a gym in Baldwin Park. Together, the married couple is opening F45, a fitness training studio, where people of all fitness levels are welcome.

The F45 franchise has been around for over seven years and originated in Australia. Starting as a small group training studio, it soon became a phenomenon. Over the past three years it made its way to the U.S.

“I've had all this experience and I've always known that I wanted to do something on my own,” said Tara Sue Gally (Strauss). “I have not, until I found F45, experienced a brand or an actual workout that I can authentically say is for everybody.”

After seeing multiple ads and hearing about the gym from someone very influential in the fitness industry, Tara decided to try it out herself. At the time, she and her family were living in New Jersey, so she visited an F45 there. Once she experienced her first workout, she realized “this was it.”

“It's about showing people how accessible fitness really is and by creating an inclusive environment that really supports everyone towards reaching their goals,” said Tara.

As she did further research on F45 and the franchise, she spoke to her husband, Rob, and they decided to open their own. They’ve wanted to open it for the past couple of years but because Rob joined the WWE, they were unsure if they would have to relocate. As soon as they found out that they would be coming to Orlando they started to look for spaces. They found one in Baldwin Park.

“I've been working out for 20 years and just like anyone else I've gotten in the same routine and habits at the gym and it gets to the point where you need something different mentally and physically,” said Robert Strauss. “My wife introduced me to F45, and I was just blown away. The workouts are based around teamwork and cheering each other on so the atmosphere is great.”

F45 is specifically designed to provide a functional full-body workout while improving energy levels, metabolic rate, strength, and endurance.  The F stands for functional training, a mix of circuit and HIIT style workouts geared towards everyday movement. 45 stands for the length of the 45-minute session.

“It's just a well put together workout and I feel that there's nothing like it,” said AJ Pertuz, Coach. “I would say to give it a try, I can almost guarantee that when you start it, you're going to fall in love with it.”

Workouts are designed for anyone aged 16 and older. You can only train as part of a class; five to seven classes are offered per day Monday-Friday, with a few during the weekend. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are Cardio; Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday are Resistance; and Saturday is Hybrid; Saturday and Sunday are Recovery.

“One of the really cool things about F45 is that its open to every person regardless of your fitness level. I want to make sure that everyone understands that we're not just another gym, we are family,” said Chris Manning, Coach.

Each class is led by two certified personal trainers. Get there 10 minutes before class to meet your trainer. Then it is demo time, the trainers will demonstrate the exercises by station and then explain how to modify it if needed. Then it is time to warm-up. Once the actual workout starts there are monitors that display an avatar doing the workout, as a reminder. This allows for the coaches to move throughout the room to provide a personal training experience within a group setting. The workout ends with a cool down and high fives.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they are reducing class sizes to ensure social distancing. They will adhere to any recommendations by Orange County and the city of Orlando. Coaches will be wearing masks and CDC guidelines will be enforced.

“Safety is obviously paramount to everything else. That's the foundation of everything that we are, to ensure that everybody is safe,” said Tara.

F45 also provides an app that will give updates and daily workouts for members so that they can work out from home. They are also going to be streaming their workouts for members that cannot be there in person.

F45 in Baldwin Park is in its final stages of construction and is set to open in January. They will begin with a VIP soft opening before opening to the public. The best time to purchase a membership is now, the franchise offers a “Lifetime Discount Membership” for those that join before opening day. These rates will be the lowest ever offered. After they open, they will have several different pricing structures.

The F45 Studio owner’s in Baldwin Park are the husband and wife duo of Robert Strauss and Tara Sue Gally (Strauss). Tara grew up in Philly, served in Americorps on the West Coast, and went to college in South Carolina. She has an extensive 20-year history in the fitness industry including training and content for Beachbody, P90X and Insanity. She is the previous Regional Group X Director of 24 Hour Fitness, Reebok Brand Ambassador, Personal Trainer, and much more!

Rob was born and raised in New Jersey and he holds a degree in Physical Education/Health. He is a reality star and world traveled pro wrestler for WWE known at Robert Stone. The couple has 4-year old twins, Cash and Carter, and a 20-year-old named Caleb.

“We're so excited to be in the Baldwin Park neighborhood. I think it's such a unique city as far as culture is concerned and the makeup of it is it's just so colorful and amazing. I'm so excited to be a part of that,” said Tara.
